The Southeast region is made up of 12 states.

Southeast Characteristics
What is it like in the Southeast? 

Climate:The Southeast is hot in the summer and mild in the winter. It is mostly a very wet climate.
History:Williamsburg, Virginia is a town that is "frozen in time." If you go there today, it looks just like it did in the 1700s. Williamsburg was the location of the government during the colonial period of the U.S. Another fact about the Southeast is that most of the U.S. Civil War was fought in the southeastern states.
Population:The population of the Southeast is 61 million. Most people live in rural or farming towns.
Landforms:The Southeast has all five landforms. There are mountains like the Smokey Mountains in Tennessee and West Virginia. There are coasts along the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico. The Southeast also has plains, highlands, and even two plateaus. Another important fact is that the Mississippi River flows through the Southeast and ends at New Orleans, Louisiana. The Mississippi River is 2,340 miles long and starts in Minnesota!
Business:

The greatest natural resource in the Southeast is the fertile soil, which produces items such as oranges, cotton, and peanuts. Another good in the Southeast is the country music produced in Nashville, Tennessee. Most people in the Southeast work in service jobs.

Gulf of Mexico The body of water, just like an ocean, located south of the Southeastern states.

Peanuts A good of the Southeast.
Country music A good produced in the country music capitol of the world, Nashville, Tennessee.
