The Northeast

The Northeast region is made up of 11 states.

Connecticut Massachusetts Pennsylvania
Delaware New Hampshire Rhode Island
Maryland New Jersey Vermont
Maine New York
 
Here is an easy way to remember the states in the Northeast region: "Mary M. Maine rode to Connecticut and New York to buy a very new ham, a new jersey, and a pen. I declare!"

Northeast Characteristics
What is it like in the Northeast? 

Climate:The temperature is hot and warm in the summer and cold in the winter. The moisture level is wet year round.
History:Known for the Pilgrims, the first English-speaking settlers of America. Boston, New York, Baltimore, and Philadelphia are among the Northeasts oldest cities.
Population:The population of the Northeast is about 57 million people. The people mostly live in cities and suburbs.
Landforms:The landforms of the Northeast are coasts, plains, highlands, and mountains.
Business:

The people in the Northeast work in mostly "service" jobs. There is also a great deal of manufacturing, too. Goods such as clothing, books, paper, and electronics are popular items made in this region.

The natural resources of the Northeast include the Atlantic Ocean, fish, and trees.

Fishing A natural resource of the Northeast.
